About the Roles

The Climber assists crew leaders in maintaining the health and care of trees on clients’ properties per work orders and by following industry’s guidelines and standards. A climber must understand and comprehend instructions given by the crew leaders and management team, and communicate with team members as necessary. In this position, the climber must be able to perform the tasks given by the crew leader such as pruning and removal of trees, stump grinding, chipping, cabling and bracing. A climber must also be able to identify and recognize safety hazards on trees before ascending (climbing) any tree(s) and/or any other tree-related issues.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 3-4 years of experience as a climber
• Must know and recognize tree climbing knots and hitches for climbing and lowering tree branches or fronds
• Must be able to identify all climbing gear items and know what they are used for
• Must inspect and properly store climbing gear and equipment
• Must have or continue to achieve tree identification skills
• Recognize disease and insect issues on trees
• Help assist new hires as needed
• Help keep equipment clean and in good working order.
• Previous work experience as an arborist climber preferred

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions for these roles:

• Primarily outdoor work, often in varying weather conditions
• Work in residential, commercial, and public settings
• Regular exposure to extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, loud noise, machinery, and potential hazards such as falling branches
• Physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects, bending, standing for long periods, and operating equipment
• Early morning starts and the potential for long hours depending on the project and job site location.
• Ability to lift at least 50lbs or more on a daily basis
• Ability to walk, climb, stand, kneel and stoop
• Have good balance and depth perception
